The rolling buffer
While Replayable runs, it records your screen into a rolling buffer in memory. The buffer holds the most recent footage and continuously overwrites older data, so nothing is written to disk until you save. This is what lets you capture "the last 30 seconds" without starting a recording beforehand.
Replayable caps the in-memory buffer at 256 MB. The buffer's length is controlled by your configured replay duration and the capture frame rate.
Saving a video replay
- Press Ctrl + Shift + V (or the save button in the app).
- Replayable takes the buffered footage for your configured duration.
- It encodes it at save time into an MP4 file that combines your screen, system audio and microphone (as enabled).
- The file is written to your replay folder under the video subfolder.
Replay duration
Set the duration from 15 to 120 seconds in settings. The free version is limited to a 30-second buffer; Pro unlocks 60 and 120-second buffers. Encoding time depends on the replay duration and your hardware, since encoding happens when you save.
Free vs Pro capture quality
- Free: up to 1080p at up to 30 FPS.
- Pro: up to 1080p at up to 60 FPS.
Where video replays go
By default: Documents\Replayable\replays\video. You can change the replay folder in settings, and new replays appear in the app's replay history. See storage locations.
