FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Common answers about Replayable, local recordings, Windows support and Pro.
What is Replayable?
Replayable is an instant replay tool for Windows. It keeps your recent screen and audio in a rolling buffer in memory, and when you press a hotkey it saves the recent footage as an MP4 video (or a WAV audio-only replay) to your computer.
What is instant replay?
An instant replay works like a DVR: while the app runs it continuously captures your screen into a rolling buffer, always keeping only the most recent moments. When something happens that you wish you had recorded, you press a hotkey and the last few seconds get saved to a file — no need to have started a recording beforehand.
Does Replayable upload my recordings?
No. Your replays, recordings and screenshots are saved locally on your computer. Replayable does not upload them to any server.
Is Replayable free?
Yes. Replayable is free to download and use. Everything in the free version works without paying, and there are no ads. Replayable Pro is an optional recurring subscription for the advanced capture options.
Does Replayable work offline?
Yes. Once installed, Replayable records entirely on your device and works without an internet connection. You only need a connection when downloading it (and when it checks for and downloads updates, which you can do manually).
How do I update Replayable?
Replayable can update itself — when an update is available it downloads and verifies the new files against the published checksums before applying them. You can also always download the latest installer from the download page.
What are the system requirements?
Replayable runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit). Replay capture uses memory and CPU in the background, so a reasonably modern processor is recommended for smooth capture, especially at higher frame rates.
Does Replayable work on Windows 10 and Windows 11?
Yes. Replayable supports both Windows 10 and Windows 11 in 64-bit, and Pro works on both.
How does Replayable save a video replay?
When you press the video hotkey (Ctrl + Shift + V by default), Replayable takes the buffered footage for your configured duration, encodes it at save time, and writes an MP4 that combines your screen, system audio and microphone (as enabled) to your replay folder.
How long are the replays?
Replayable supports replay durations from 15 to 120 seconds. The free version is capped at a 30-second buffer; Replayable Pro unlocks 60- and 120-second buffers.
Where are my recordings stored?
By default, replays are saved to Documents\Replayable\replays, with video saves in the video subfolder and audio-only saves in the audio subfolder. You can change the replay folder in settings.
What hotkeys does Replayable use?
The default hotkeys are Ctrl + Shift + V (save a video replay), Ctrl + Shift + A (save an audio replay) and Ctrl + Shift + R (toggle the overlay). All of them can be changed in settings.
Can I change the hotkeys?
Yes. Every hotkey is configurable in settings. Replayable re-registers the global hotkeys from your saved settings, applying changes immediately.
What is the replay buffer?
The replay buffer is a rolling in-memory capture capped at 256 MB. It always holds only the most recent footage, so memory stays low while old footage is continuously overwritten. Its length is set by your replay duration and capture frame rate.
What are the free version limits?
The free version is limited to a 30-second replay buffer and recording up to 1080p at 30 FPS. Replayable Pro removes those limits (up to 120 seconds, up to 1080p at 60 FPS).
What formats are replays saved in?
Video replays are saved as MP4 files that combine your screen, system audio and microphone. Audio-only replays are saved as WAV files.
How much does Replayable Pro cost?
Replayable Pro is $4.99 +GST per month, or $39.99 +GST per year with the yearly plan (save 33%). It is a recurring subscription you can cancel anytime — see the pricing page for current checkout details.
Is Pro a subscription?
Yes. Replayable Pro is a recurring subscription billed monthly or yearly, and you can cancel anytime. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
What does a Pro subscription include?
A Pro subscription includes the longer replay buffers (up to 120 seconds) and higher frame rate capture (up to 1080p / 60 FPS), on top of everything in the free version. Updates apply to the version and features Replayable currently offers. Your premium status is linked to your account on this website — see the pricing page.
How do I install Replayable?
Download the installer from the download page, verify its SHA-256 against the checksum shown there if you wish, run it, and follow the on-screen steps. If SmartScreen warns you, click More info then Run anyway. See the installation guide for details.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription?
Yes. Open your account page and use the manage-subscription portal, or cancel from the Dodo Payments hosted portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you keep full Pro access until then, and no further charges are made.
